Went to the Blogging Party

By WJ | June 29th, 2005 | 2 Comments

The energy released at the real-time ALA rendezvous of library world bloggers last Sunday will be reverberating for some time to come–I for one (who can be a bit of a curmudge) am newly inspired by the passion of those dedicated to online community., and looking forward to working more closely with people we met in person there. I was also moved to compose a little ditty in honor of the occasion.

To the tune of “Sloop John B”
(requires a slighly off-kilter Calyso mentality to get the words to come out)

We come to the Blog Party
(thanks to OCLC)
And post to “It’s All Good” coop’ratively.
Blogging all day
Schmoozing with Jay
This is the hippest
Party at ALA.

So hoist up a Dublin brew
And drink some of Jay’s wine too
But don’t let that compromise your critical view.
Blog ’cause you’re free
Blog prolific’ly
And get your picture
Taken with Steven C.

I want to log on,
Gosh darn it, doggone,
I feel so pent up
I have to blog on.

Nobody’s touchin’ the cheese
We’re too busy shootin’ the breeze
About Obama’s liberal tendencies.
The hubbub is loud
(’cause booze is allowed)
It cert’nly is a non-virtual crowd.

So post up your point of view
And hoist up a bloggers’ brew
We’re a rarin’ libr’ry blogosphere crew.
Chicago is warm
But we’re in good form
This Blue Suite is the
Best room in the whole dorm.

I want to log on,
Gosh darn it, doggone,
I feel so pent up
I have to blog on.
