Book Discussion for Librarians

By Jennifer | November 1st, 2007 | Comment?

BlogJunction Kansas has announced Library Intersections, a book discussion group for librarians focused on emerging trends at the intersection of society, libraries, and technology. “The Long Tail” by Chris Anderson is the first book being discussed…certainly a great choice to launch the project!

Having just returned (thoroughly overwhelmed!) from Internet Librarian, I was so excited to hear about this. With so many different conversations to have, so many tools to explore, so many sites to visit, I welcome the opportunity to get on the same page, or at least within the same book with libraryland colleagues to dive a bit deeper into some of the questions and discussion. Having taken part in book groups and some of Seattle Public Library’s city-wide reading programs I love what happens when folks bring varied perspectives and experiences, gather around the community campfire, and “bring books and minds together.”

Cheers to NEKLS for getting the ball rolling!
